Cookies Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
This Cookies Policy explains how Stockard, Johnston, Brown, Netardus & Doyle, P.C. (“SJB Law Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on www.sjblawfirm.com (the “Website”). It covers what these technologies are, which ones the Website uses, why we use them, and the choices you have. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone, or tablet when you visit. They let a site recognize your device, remember certain details about your visit, and understand how people use its pages.
Cookies placed by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies placed by another company whose service runs on that website are called third-party cookies. Some cookies disappear when you close your browser (session cookies), and others stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them (persistent cookies).
The Website also uses related technologies, such as tags and scripts, that send information about your visit to the service providers named below. In this policy, “cookies” refers to all of these technologies.
Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies to keep the Website working and secure, to understand how visitors find and use our pages, and to measure how well our online advertising performs.
We do not use cookies to collect the details of a legal matter you describe to us. Information you enter in our contact form is sent directly to our firm and is not stored in a cookie.
Types of Cookies on Our Website
Security cookies
Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to protect it against spam and automated abuse. reCAPTCHA may set a cookie and collect information about your device and how you interact with the page so Google can tell people apart from bots. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. If you block these cookies, the contact form may not work, and you can call either of our offices instead.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Website. These cookies tell us which pages people visit, how long they stay, how they arrived at the Website, and the general region and type of device they use. Google provides this to us in aggregated reports that do not identify you by name. We use these reports to improve our content and make the Website easier to use.
Advertising and conversion cookies
We advertise our services through Google Ads. When you click one of our ads or visit the Website, Google may set cookies that help us measure whether an ad led to a visit, a phone call, or a consultation request. Google may also use these cookies to show our ads to people who have visited the Website before, while they browse other sites (a practice called remarketing). We do not share the contents of your contact form submission with Google for advertising.
Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _GRECAPTCHA | Google reCAPTCHA | Protects the contact form against spam and automated submissions | 6 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current session and the pages viewed | 2 years |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Connects ad clicks to later visits and inquiries to measure ad performance | 90 days |
| _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Stores information about the ad you clicked to reach the Website | 90 days |
| IDE | Google (doubleclick.net) | Supports remarketing and measures the effectiveness of ads | Up to 13 months |
| test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies | 15 minutes |
Cookie names and durations are set by each provider and may change. Google may also read cookies it has already placed on your device under its own domains, such as google.com, particularly if you are signed in to a Google account.
Other Technologies and Linked Services
- Fonts. The Website loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these fonts, Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. Google Fonts does not set cookies.
- Content delivery. Website files are delivered through a content delivery network so pages load quickly. This service processes technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver files and does not set tracking cookies.
- Social media links. The Website links to our Facebook page and YouTube channel. These are plain links, so Facebook and YouTube do not set cookies through our Website. Once you follow a link, that platform’s own cookie and privacy policies apply.
- Google reviews and maps. Client reviews and office directions link to pages hosted by Google. Google’s policies apply once you leave our Website.
How to Manage Cookies
You have several ways to control cookies:
- Browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their privacy or security settings. Blocking all cookies may affect how parts of the Website work, including the contact form.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Google ad personalization. You can turn off personalized ads from Google at myadcenter.google.com.
- Industry opt-outs. You can opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Google’s data practices. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Do Not Track signals
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no single accepted standard for responding to these signals, the Website does not currently change how it operates when it receives one. You can still limit cookies using the options above.
Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly use cookies to collect information from children.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy when we change the technologies we use or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and changes take effect when they are posted.
